Full Stack AI Engineer
ABOUT THE FULL STACK AI ENGINEER ROLE AT GENHEALTH
GenHealth.ai is changing how healthcare works, and we’re looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to join our team. You’ll help build the AI products at the center of that work, with a real impact on patients and the providers who care for them.
Responsibilities
- AI-native software development. Use AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) as a core part of your development workflow to design, build, test, and ship production software.
- Engineering judgment and ownership. Own software development end to end, from architecture and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring. Know what to delegate to agents, how to provide effective context, and how to validate their output.
- Security first. Build secure systems handling sensitive healthcare data. Apply strong authentication, authorization, data isolation, and security principles throughout development, including when working with AI-generated code.
- Full-stack development. Design and build frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud infrastructure using modern frameworks and AI-assisted development workflows.
- Software quality and maintainability. Apply classic engineering principles, including modular design, separation of concerns, testability, and maintainability. Ensure AI-generated code meets the same standards as human-written code.
- Agentic development workflows. Develop and improve workflows for AI-assisted engineering, including agent instructions, context management, automated testing, code review, and parallel development.
- Production ownership. Build, deploy, and maintain reliable cloud-based systems, including infrastructure, networking, observability, and performance optimization.
- AI product development. Prototype and build AI-powered product features using LLMs, tool calling, agent orchestration, and other emerging capabilities.
- Collaboration and mentorship. Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to ship quickly, review technical decisions, and help others adopt effective AI-native engineering practices.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor. Demonstrated ability to use these tools to build substantial, production-quality software, not just generate snippets or boilerplate.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, API design, data modeling, networking, concurrency, security, testing, and debugging. Able to recognize when AI-generated implementations are incorrect, insecure, or poorly designed.
- Experience orchestrating agentic development workflows, including decomposing complex tasks, writing effective specifications and agent instructions, managing context, and validating results through automated tests and code review.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or other modern programming languages, with experience building full-stack applications using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, React, or Next.js.
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization protocols, including OAuth2, OIDC, and SAML, and secure application design.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), containers, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience deploying, monitoring, debugging, and maintaining production applications, including logging, observability, and incident response.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs, tool calling, structured outputs, and agent frameworks. Experience building agent-powered applications is a plus.
- Ability to move quickly without sacrificing correctness. Comfortable using agents to dramatically accelerate implementation while maintaining rigorous standards for architecture, security, testing, and reliability.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary for this role is $100,000 – $200,000. In addition to salary, total compensation includes the following
- Healthcare, dental, and vision insurance for your entire family
- Equity (stock options) valued between $25,000 - $100,000.
- Unlimited vacation and 15+ company holidays per year
