The DevOps Engineer role at GenHealth will focus on building, deploying, and maintaining the infrastructure required to support state-of-the-art generative AI models in healthcare. You will work with a team of passionate and talented individuals with a track record of successful startups who are dedicated to improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable infrastructure for deploying AI models and data ingestion both on-premises in Boston, MA, and in the cloud.
  • Automate the deployment, monitoring, and scaling of AI and data ingestion systems.
  • Collaborate with software/ML engineers and data scientists to ensure seamless integration and deployment of AI models and data ingest platforms.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for model and infrastructure updates.
  • Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive healthcare data.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cloud infrastructure, DevOps tools, and AI technologies. Have excitement for trying new technologies while being smart about keeping with what’s tried-and-true.
  • Manage and optimize NVIDIA GPUs for AI workloads, including driver and CUDA management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and configure Linux-based systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in managing and automating cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker/Podman/Singularity, and virtualization (QEMU, KVM).
  • Experience implementing and operating CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience in monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Nix, etc.).
  • Strong background in Linux system administration, including kernel tuning, networking (Infiniband a major plus), package management (nix, yum, dpkg/apt, etc) and experience on the security side (PAM, SELinux, UFW, etc).
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and workflows.
  • Passion for making a significant impact on the healthcare industry using AI.
  • Deep GNU/Linux experience, especially NixOS, Debian, Arch. Knows how to patch a kernel. Can build a kernel module without distro-managed tools.

🏠 Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, and currently living, or willing to relocate to the Boston area. While we are a fully distributed company, this role needs to be able to go onsite and work with our GPUs. We currently have a handful of employees in Boston that get together and co-work. 🙂

Extra Credit

  • Experience with NVIDIA GPU management, including installation, configuration, and performance optimization for AI workloads.
  • Experience with data orchestration platforms like Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, Fivetran, NiFi, or comparable.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards such as EHR, FHIR, and/or Claims data.
  • Experience with security compliance standards (HIPAA, SOC 2).
  • Strong knowledge of networking and security best practices.
  • Experience in open-source software development and contributions.
  • Strong Experience in C, C++, or Rust. Familiar with tools like gdb, strace, iperf, etc.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this role is $150,000 – $250,000. In addition to salary, total compensation includes the following:
